Download New Album: Bananarama – In Stereo
Bananarama returns with a brand new smashing hot and dope studio album after 10 years, packed with 10 amazing and solid tracks titled “In Stereo“. Bananarama are one of the UK’s most iconic and successful girlbands, and a new vinyl collection of remixes of their biggest hits is coming this Record Store Day.
The first volume of Bananarama Remixed, to be released on blue vinyl, includes a new take on one of their most famous hits Venus, their first single with super-producers Stock Aitken Waterman.
Venus, a cover of the 1970 Shocking Blue hit, reached Number 8 in the UK in 1986 and was Bananarama’s only US Number 1. Its frenetic, high-energy sound was said to be inspired by Dead or Alive’s huge Number 1 You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) – also produced by SAW. For 2019, however, Venus offers a more laid-back disco vibe, but is no less a floorfiller than the original, thanks to the talents of DJ and remixer Leo Zero, famed for his dancefloor overhauls of classics by artists like Bryan Ferry, Madness, and Coldplay. The new LP, In Stereo, will be Bananarama’s 11th studio album and will be released on April 19 through their own IN SYNK label with Absolute providing services support including sales, marketing, distribution and more.
Bananarama have sold 30 million records over a career spanning more than 36 years.
Dallin and Woodward have written and recorded the new LP with producer Ian Masterson who, as a songwriter, producer or remixer, has worked with a number of big name acts including Kylie and Dannii Minogue, Girls Aloud, Belinda Carlisle and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Track Love In Stereo was recorded with producer Richard X.
The album will be launched with a one time only ‘Evening With Bananarama’ UK tour, visiting intimate venues in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow from April 26 – May 2.
The duo have just returned from playing dates in the US and an Australian tour. They will play Summer Sonic Festival in Japan in August, as well as festivals across the summer in the UK and Europe. Absolute Label Manager Fraser Ealey said: “Absolute has a strong track record when it comes to empowering pop icons who want to regain their independence with fresh impetus in the modern music business. We’re pleased to be able to do just that for Bananarama, who remain an important part of the UK’s pop tapestry.”
Bananarama said: “We are delighted to be working with Absolute. It’s a new experience for us and we’ve found it incredibly easy. It’s great to have their support whilst keeping full control over the campaign and ownership of our new album.”
Founded in 1998, Absolute has recently worked on album releases from artists including Steps, All Saints, Jake Shears, Kim Wilde, Alice Cooper, 67, Dappy, Ay Em, Danny Jones and Ferris & Sylvester, as well as labels such as Ram Records.
